Elvis is a 10-year old Basset Hound, born January 1st 1998. He's neutered, brown, black and white. He is house trained, very laid back and gets very excited when his owners come home! He loves to go for walks but otherwise does what Bassets do best and basically lays around. He's good with children, doesn't lick and has quite a funny bark!

Collette is about 3 1/2 years old, weighs about 50 pounds.
She is red and white, and loves companinionship. She's spayed and housebroken, and wants to be spoiled like the princess she is. Collette is looking for a adult-only home with a male (or no other) dogs.

Betsey is 23 pounds, current on all vacinations,
on heatworm preventative and sweet as could be. Betsey has been in a kennel for months now, and desperately needs a foster or permanent home to love her!
Betsy gets along great with everyone! We have a very active home with lots of kids coming and going
and Betsy greets everyone as though they are a long lost friend. She
enjoys rides in the car especially if she she gets to hang out on the
sidelines of a lacrosse game. She knows she gets extra petting and love
from the spectators big and small. She is also just as happy to snuggle
up next to you on the couch to watch a movie or take a nap. She doesn't
even mind if you snore.
At night she likes to sleep at the foot of the bed of our 10 year
old boy or cuddled up next to her dog buddy on his bed. She's fine
in her crate if we will be gone during the day. Betsy would definitely
like to share a home with another dog and a kid or two to love her. |

Dudley is a 3 year old Beagle/Basset
hound mix. Dudley is housebroken and is crate trained. Dudley needs
to find a loving home with no children. Dudley likes to go for walks
and walks well on a leash. Also Dudley likes to have his belly rubbed.
Dudley can sit, stay, give you his paw, beg and go down on command. |

Duke (2) is almost 3 years old, and about
55lbs. He likes kids and cats, and loves to play and ride in the car.
He's healthy, though he will need some reminders on housebreaking and
obedience. |

Dakota is a sweet Beagle, up to date on all shots,
and ready to be loved by a family of his own. |
 |
Harvey is a 4-yr old Beagle, weighing about 25 pounds. He's as cute as a button and loves to play with all kinds of dog toys. Cuddly and soft, he also likes to be outside and rides well in cars. He is currently in a loving foster home with another hound mix and they play well together. He is currently on Heartworm prevention medicine and would love to have a permanent home. |
Special note: We are
in need of homes in the Mid-Atlantic area to foster dogs. If interested
in volunteering as a foster home, please contact Arlene Kahn at 301-292-3020.
Thanks.

WHAT IS BASSET HOUND
RESCUE LEAGUE?
Basset Hound Rescue League (BHRL)
is an adoption agency for Basset Hounds operated solely by volunteers dedicated
to the welfare of Basset Hounds. BHRL finds new homes for abandoned and relinquished
Basset Hounds.
A veterinarian examines each dog
we rescue and checks for parasites, gives immunizations, and either spays or
neuters. We then place the dog in the home of a potential adopter for a trial
period. During the trial period, a member of BHRL will periodically check on
how you and your dog are doing. The volunteer will be available for advice and
to share your frustration with this lovable breed. If a potential permanent
home is not available, the dog is placed in a foster home until one is found.
BHRL asks for a contribution beginning
at $200.00 for each dog adopted in order that we may continue to rescue Bassets.
The contributions are based on the age of the dog, and the costs incurred by
us. BHRL also runs some minor fundraising activities, such as calendar, T-shirt,
and Christmas card sales, and we accept any and all donations.
We are always looking for good
foster and permanent homes, as well as volunteers who are interested in working
in the Basset Hound Rescue League. We need help to screen prospective homes,
pick up dogs from pounds and shelters and deliver them to veterinary hospitals
or foster homes, and run general errands. As a volunteer you can be as active
as you wish, picking an activity to suit your special interest and the time
you have to spare. If you are interested in any part of our program, please
call Arlene Kahn at 301-292-3020.
